Storyboard

In order to put my ideas on paper, I created a storyboard. This helped me conceptualize my ideas and gave me a clear direction on how to film, along with my screenplay. This really helped to avoid any confusion on the days I was filming and made the process seamless.

Creation of a shot list

After completing the screenplay I moved on to creating a shot list, though it doesn't follow the proper format of shot lists. Below I'll attach images of it.

Audience research-responses

Here are the responses to my earlier questionnaire! A lot of responses expressed interest for music videos with specific storylines and strong visuals so I will definitely be incorporating those things into the video.

Lyrics analysis

I decided to carry out an analysis of the lyrics for the  song so I could better reflect the meaning in my music video

Screenplay planning-costumes

I created a rough idea of the kind of costumes that the characters would be wearing.

Draft synopsis

After receiving some insight from the artists, I now had an idea of how to go about creating my music video. I created a draft synopsis of the narrative for my music video:

“Healin’ Me” is an R&B/Alternative Soul track by Nam and Marc that explores themes of emotional growth, self-reflection, and connection. The song carries a soft, nostalgic tone, centering around the healing nature of relationships and the beauty of small, intimate moments.

The music video will follow a warm and reflective narrative centered on Jada, a girl navigating her emotions after a significant shift in her life. The story begins in her bedroom, where she finds a memory box filled with personal items that take her back to heartfelt, joyous times. As she sifts through the memories, we see glimpses of her rekindling her sense of self through moments spent with friends.

The video will unfold across five key locations: her bedroom, a rooftop balcony, and an empty street during golden hour. In the bedroom, she quietly reflects on her past and reconnects with memories. These memories come to life as she joins her close friends (Matthew and Ambrose)for a carefree skateboard session down an empty road. The artists, Nam and Marc, appear within this scene, performing in the midst of the group, as if part of the memory themselves. Later, Marc is seen alone on a rooftop balcony, performing his verse as the afternoon light fades, emphasizing a moment of solitude and clarity.

Throughout the video, characters hold handmade signs with the lyric “It’s healing me” written on them, reinforcing the song’s message visually. The final scene brings us back to Jada’s room, where she gently closes the memory box with a newfound sense of peace.

The video will blend natural light, soft warm tones, and thoughtful performances to create a dreamy, emotional atmosphere. Flashbacks will be integrated seamlessly, evoking a sense of timelessness and inner calm. At its core, “Healin’ Me” is about the quiet ways we grow, the people who help us along the way, and how healing often comes in the softest, most unexpected moments.

Goodbye :)
