And more planning..

While developing Healin' Me I looked at music videos that really capture mood and emotion in a way that feels authentic. These three stood out the most:

Peach – Kevin Abstract
This video feels like a soft, nostalgic memory. The handheld shots and warm tones give it a raw, personal feel, like you're watching a day in someone’s real life. It’s emotional without trying too hard, which is something I really want to bring into my own project.

Morning Sex – Ralph Castelli
Minimal but powerful. It focuses on light, shadows, and close-ups to turn simple moments into something cinematic. It reminded me that atmosphere can sometimes say more than dialogue or action.

Dancing – bLAck pARty
This one just feels free. It’s colorful, playful, and relaxed but still emotional. It helped me realize I can blend joy and vulnerability in the same scene, which I’m planning to do in the skateboard sequence.

Each of these videos influenced how I’m approaching tone, color, and emotion in Healin’ Me. Short, simple, but powerful visuals. That’s the goal.

Planninggg

As part of my planning, I decided to pick out a couple of shots that I liked from music videos that inspired me and the reasoning behind each of them

Mood board :)

I created a Pinterest board just to bring my ideas to life and give a little insight into the kind of visuals I would like to achieve. I learned that I lean towards more greens, oranges and yellows in terms of color when it comes to film making. These tend to make videos and pictures more cinematic and that is also something I would like to achieve in my music video.

Idea generation

At this point I was torn. I did not know what exactly I wanted to create and this caused me to put it off for quite some time. After a lot contemplation and brainstorming, I did some research and narrowed down my ideas.

This is the main concept I have: The music video will follow the story of a young woman who finds an old memory box, sort of like a time capsule, and this triggers nostalgia for her as she reflects on the past, present and future. Each item she finds will be followed by a flashback of the moment it reminds her of.

There are several ways I'd like to experiment in this music video and one of them could be, for example, finding a letter with the lyrics of the song written on it.

As I mentioned in one of my posts, I'd still like to include some performance elements in the video along with the narrative I've created. This aligns with a lot of the inspiration I've attached in my blog. I also think these kinds of videos keep viewers engaged as one shot or concept is not being dragged out for too long

Inspo

I then started searching for inspiration. I wanted to keep my ideas simple, yet creative. From each of these videos a few of the shots stood out to me. One aspect I liked from each of the videos was how they used a mix of performance and narrative styles in their videos. This is something I would like to incorporate in my video as well
