Choice of music

After finalizing my decision, I had a hard time determining what music to use for my video. My brother and his friend gave permission to use one of their songs. The name of the song is Healin' Me by Nam, M4rc. While listening to the song, I felt that the tone of the music matched the vibe I wanted to go for when filming my video.

Critical reflection

We are required to answer these four questions within our critical reflection essay, so I decided that it is important for me to take these factors into consideration before I start my process

Decision made!

 After much contemplation, I settled on creating a music video. I did so because, having experienced the process through the assignment we were given, I have been exposed to the process of making a music video and I am aware of common mistakes made that I could avoid moving forward. Furthermore, since my brother makes his own music, I have access to original music to avoid any copyright issues. 

Reflection

Upon completion of the assignment, I learned a lot. First of all, I learned that the process of filming takes longer than expected. Filming one 30 second scene took us about 1 hour, as we had to do multiple takes until we got one that we all thought was good enough. Secondly, I also learned that occasionally, you may have to go off script due to issues that are out of your control. In our case, it was the weather. We had planned to film a picnic scene on a sunny day, but when that day came, it started pouring. We had to completely change that scene and replace it with something else. If such a thing occurs again, it's always important to have a backup plan ready. 

I still have a lot of room for improvement, especially in the technical aspect of filming in order to create a better product. For post production, I am actively trying to familiarize myself with editing softwares such as After Effects and Premiere Pro because being able to navigate them comfortably will have a positive impact on how my work comes out. 

All in all, I believe this assignment taught me what to do and what not to do while on this journey to complete my coursework

Process pt 4-post production

Editing the video was quite difficult. This was something new to all of us so trying to merge the clips and make them look decent, as well as syncing the music to the clips was a challenge, to say the least. Due to this reason, we chose to use CapCut primarily for this assignment, as it was what we were most familiar with. We divided the work amongst each other, with the 5 of us doing different scenes, then in the end, we merged all the clips we had to create the finished product. We then worked together to refine the video until it was satisfactory enough to be submitted. 

Process pt 3-Filming!!

 While filming, we underwent quite a few challenges. One of these was location decisions. At first, we wanted to film at a skating rink, but soon realized that it may cause issues such as other people coming into the shot, and possibly having to pay an extra fee to film. With that in mind, we finalized our locations which were our school's studio for the performance scenes, our school's boarding house for most of the other scenes and lastly, the patio.

Another issue we had was scheduling days for filming. Finding days in which our schedules aligned was definitely tedious, but nonetheless, we made it work
